Get into the Act with Older Americans Month

Written by NRC | April 28, 2015

Every May is Older Americans Month and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act. In 1965, the US Congress passed the Older Americans Act in order to improve quality of life for older Americans through enhanced community social services. The Older Americans Act also established the Administration on Aging, a Federal agency charged with administering grants to fund new government services and act as a focal point for older American issues. At NRC, we are passionate about helping communities assess their age-friendliness as well as the state of services for the older adults with The Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults (CASOA). We believe that older Americans should thrive and have much to contribute to the richness of their communities. Learn more about CASOA here.
