Emergency response and readiness has a lot to do with the overall health and wellness of a community. Every day, Emergency Medical Service professionals are on standby to help ensure the safety, care and emergency preparedness of their cities, counties and towns. The third week of May is celebrated as National EMS Week across the U.S. It recognizes those who are "Always in Service." National Research Center, Inc. (NRC)'s vast, twenty-year database of public opinion from The National Citizen Survey™ (The NCS™) shows residents think their local EMS service providers are doing a good job.
Overall, 89% of residents in the U.S. rate their local ambulance and emergency medical services as excellent or good.
Most residents feel positive about their health services with 64% rating favorably.
When it comes to how prepared people think their city is for natural disasters or other hazardous events, 63% of residents give a positive rating.
It's important for local leaders to engage public and make sure their neighbors know of all the available resources and emergency plans the city has. It becomes clear, looking at the data, that resilient communities must be ready for anything.
