The Voice of the People Awards were presented jointly by NRC and ICMA on September 23, 2013 at the ICMA Annual Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. The Voice of the People Awards represent the best of the best in local government practices - see the complete list of past winners HERE or learn more about the Voice of the People awards in this blog entry.
In 2013, we honored 16 communities from across the country. Each of these winners will be highlighted throughout the coming year right here on our blog - we're looking forward to sharing their stories and best practices with you.
In 2014, we'll be changing the process to make the awards at once more competitive and more representative of best practice work. Rather than rely on metrics alone to receive the award, eligible communities will be asked to submit an application form that describes the work they have done to reach a given metric. Award nominees (culled from those who completed The National Citizen Survey in 2013) will be notified of their status in March, and will have until June to submit their applications.
Stay tuned to the blog for more information in the months to come!
