Small businesses are the heart of our communities; money spent in small businesses stays in the community and has a big impact on quality of life. According to the US Small Business Administration, over half of Americans own or work at a small business and small businesses create about two out of every three new jobs in the US each year. Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. We recognize the importance of small business and use The National Business Survey to help assess communities' business climates and identify factors that contribute to the success of businesses.
