Using Open-Ended Questions for Respondent Comments

We recommend asking about a specific topic, instead of a more general question (such as ‘Do you have any other comments?’). Due to the randomness and variety of responses you would get from a general question like the example, we would not be able to analyze the results and show any type of comparison between responses. If you want to include an open-ended question about a specific topic in your community, we can work with you to create that. Here are some examples:

  • What do you think is the single biggest challenge facing our community today?

  • What do you think is the biggest priority for the City to address in the next five years?

You can also find additional question options in the Polco Library.
