Whether it’s Halloween or any other time of the year, meaningful treats at work can make a job feel special and fun. After surveying hundreds of local government professionals across the US about their own employers, we understand how important it is for organizations to show appreciation for their staff. We’ve seen that recognizing and thanking employees for their contributions leads to greater motivation, collaboration, improved retention, and a more positive workplace culture overall.
A crowd-favorite tradition at National Research Center / Polco is our annual Cookies and Costumes office party. It’s one way we like to treat our dedicated employees who give us their time and expertise. We also know that sometimes it’s the little things that really count.
So this year, we asked some NRC / Polco employees to tell us about their favorite treats at work!
"My coworkers are my friends. So my favorite treats at work are celebrating holidays with them!" - Angelica Wedell, Director of Marketing and Communications
“I love sharing a meal, because while the food is nice, gathering around the table always brings great stories and lots of laughter!” - Sonya Wytinck, Chief Operating Officer
“My favorite treat is when a coworker decides to celebrate another trip around the sun with a yoga birthday party! It’s fun to get together as a team and do something active.” - Rebecca Hofkes, Research Analyst
“I love it when my coworkers join me for a walk with my dog (who comes to work with me most of the time). It's great to get some fresh air, and talk about work in a different setting. I come back energized and with a fresh perspective.” - Damema Mann, Director of National Engagement
“I love seeing my coworkers express their creativity through Halloween costumes! And eating candy apples with them is the BEST.” - Heather Locke, Research Analyst
