How significance margins are calculated
By Polco Product Team on September 17, 2024
Polco’s comparative database includes resident feedback from over 600 communities through The National Community Survey (NCS), where residents evaluate similar topics. The benchmark data is continuously updated with the most recent survey results from each community, ensuring it remains current and relevant. This database represents a diverse range of geographic locations and population sizes.
Understanding Benchmark Comparisons:
- "Higher," "Lower," or "Similar": These labels indicate whether your community's average rating is statistically similar to or different from the benchmark data.
- "Higher" or "Lower": Your community’s rating differs by more than 10 points compared to the benchmark.
- "Much Higher" or "Much Lower": Your community’s rating differs by more than 20 points from the benchmark.
These margins of significance help provide context for how your community compares to others, allowing for a clearer understanding of performance.
